Welcome to Little Hoole Parish Council

What does a Parish Council do?

A Parish Council is the first tier of local government and is empowered to deliver a vast range of services at a community level.

Amongst other things, it can be involved in planning, promoting tourism, licensing, management of village centres and the provision and upkeep of community halls. Other matters that can come under its umbrella are footpaths and street lighting, cemeteries, public lavatories, car parks and public spaces, public seats and bus-shelters, street signs, litterbins, allotments and public clocks!

In other words, it can do most things that are for the general good of the community, either by itself or through the Borough or County councils.

However, Little Hoole is not a large parish and many of the matters above are the responsibility of either South Ribble Borough Council or Lancashire County Council.
